Three suspects were arrested in connection with a violent home invasion robbery in Newport Beach.

The Newport Beach Police Department identified the suspects as:

  • Miguel Cervantes, 28, of Alhambra
  • Edward Graves, 35, of Los Angeles
  • Linda Shahin, 38, of Los Angeles

On March 13, police were called to a robbery at the home, which was being used as a short-term rental property, around 5:51 a.m.

Two masked suspects armed with handguns barged into the home and demanded money and narcotics from the victims inside. During the robbery, multiple victims were assaulted and sustained injuries that required medical treatment.

The suspects stole jewelry, cell phones, car keys and other valuables before fleeing the scene, police said.

Following a months-long investigation, detectives identified three people believed to be involved in planning and carrying out the robbery.

“Based on evidence obtained throughout the investigation, detectives believe Shahin played a significant role in orchestrating the robbery, while Graves and Cervantes are believed to have carried out the home invasion,” police said.

On June 3, all three suspects were arrested and booked on charges related to conspiracy and robbery. Additionally, Graves and Cervantes were booked on charges related to assault with a deadly weapon.

During search warrants served at multiple locations, detectives recovered evidence believed to be connected to the crime, including stolen property and firearms.

“The investigation remains active and additional charges may be considered as evidence continues to be reviewed,” authorities said.
